About Ecotourism and ecolodges
Ecotourism or responsible tourism respects natural habitats and helps improve the local community. This type of travel can involve a variety of activities from adventure or nature travel to travel that invites you to participate in community service.
What is an ecolodge?
It can be many things. It can be a jungle lodge in Costa Rica, a self catering holiday home in Tuscany, a country hotel in Spain, thatch huts in Gambia, a beach resort in Jamaica or a mountain retreat in Australia
In all cases the less obvious concerns of recycling, waste reduction, clean water, and management of waste water must be handled with great care to assure that the built environment does no harm and indeed enhances the natural and the local cultural world.
An ecolodge is simply a small hotel or vacation spot that follows the philosophy of ecotourism. |
